News arrives that the EAAF?the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team?has identified the remains of his friend Damián, who fell in battle. He has started smoking again. A delegation is being organized to travel to the Islands and attend the ceremony. An old pang of guilt torments him: when Damián fell, he was a few meters behind him, firing his weapon. He always knew it wasn?t him, but the specter of friendly fire casts a shadow over his memory.
